the hard sell hardly sells

What have I done to deserve the horrors of having to look for a new car and a new mattress at the same time? I volunteer. I don't harm small animals. Why I ask you, why?

I'm certain that car salesmen and mattress salesmen are closely related in the gene pool. It simply boggles the mind that you can get a mattress for the price of a used automobile and get a 50 year warranty to boot.

On Saturday morning I drove 5 cars. A Mitsubishi, a Toyota, a Chrysler, a Mazda and a Volvo. I love the hard sell "Let's put you in a 2006!" Me: "No thanks, I just want to drive a 2003 (insert car here) do you have any available to test drive? Because if that's a problem I'm sure I can find one somewhere else on this Boulevard." I also love how the salesmen bad mouth other automobile makers. It just makes me laugh. Really. That being said, my little test driving stint solidified in my mind that I love the Mazda Protege5 and if I'm gonna spend X amount of money I should go for the car that I've been coveting since it was introduced in 2002.

obsessed with autos

I had a dream last night that a small plane crashed into my car and totaled it. I was so happy. Me thinks this is associated with the current mode I'm in...car buying. Or should I say car considering, as I haven't figured out what exactly I'm going to buy. Tomorrow I plan to go test drive numerous cars and hopefully after that I will have some idea of what interests me. I'm torn and conflicted on body shapes and styles and colors and interior looks. Although during the past 2 weeks I've analyzed every single car I see on the road and have become quite good at discerning the differences between auto makes with simply a quick glance - after a while they all start to look the same. Probably because there really are only like 4 different car companies and everything else is an offshoot of the parent company.

Can I say though that I'm a little scared of the fact that sedans and wagons are starting to look pleasing to me versus the sporty cars. I think my age is finally catching up to my brain. Yipers.
