back in the swing of things

Last night I danced and for a brief period was able to free myself of all the crap that’s been bouncing around in my head. But that’s what dancing does to me. I’ve taken a self imposed hiatus on the dance scene for a few months because as most dancers do, we get “burned out.” Then when you come back its like “why did I stop dancing? I really enjoy this – except for all the high school drama…but whatever.” Really, we say that. I heard it more than once last night.

I hope to go out once, maybe twice next week. All of this is in preparation for Camp Hollywood which will be taking place at the end of July at the LAX Marriott. Camp Hollywood is a weekend long event which has classes during the day, competitions and evening/late night dances. I’m over the classes and competing thing so I make the weekend a little mini-vacation. I get a room at the hotel for the weekend and watch the comps during the day in between stints of lounging by the pool, in the evening I socialize with friends from out of town and dance during the late night festivities.

If you’re interested in checking things out, watching the competitions can be a great impetus for feeding that “I wanna learn how to dance” bug. A spectator pass is available at the door and only costs $15 per day (Saturday & Sunday). Check out the link above for more info.

Yay for camp Hollywood! Yay for mini vacation! Yay for staying at the hotel! Yay for sleeping in bed with Shan! Yay for late night drinking and shenanigans! Yay for quality girl time and making fun of all the random out of towners that take dancing WAY too seriously! Yay for having my personal designer/hair dresser back! Yay for not knowing when it's nighttime or the next day! Yay for good times to be had! That is all :)
