Good food, good friends, good times. Last night
Celia and Jim hosted one of their semi-regular Sunday Night Dinners at the Penthouse.
The evening started at 7pm with some of Celia’s homemade sangria and a tour of the digs. Eric and Phil arrived shortly thereafter and us being the homegrown tourists that we are we proceeded to take pictures of every building in sight from the 9th floor rooftop view. It was “magic hour” and we were losing light, we had to act fast. More sangria, mingling amongst some new friends and lounging in the awesome space were the key components of the early evening.
Then we (Eric, Phil & I) decided to go explore the 2nd floor lounge and the 2 ballrooms. Urban exploring is our ritual whenever the three of us find ourselves in older buildings. This time, Eric & I were privy to the spaces but Phil had never seen it so we were conducting our own mini tour. After the picture taking rampage was over we returned to the penthouse where we were greeted with freshly bbq’d goods (many thanks to grill master Tim and assistant Jim), salad, potatoes and watermelon (virgin and non-virgin)….guess which one I chose.
Some grub, a meeting of the minds in the kitchen and post dinner conversation on the rooftop complete with even more picture taking. We finally transitioned inside and gathered around the table finishing off the last of the watermelon.
It was a fantastic way to top off a very lazy Sunday. The only bummer of the entire situation was the fact that in the back of my mind I kept thinking, “damn, I have to work tomorrow.” Yes, I’m one of the few office minions in L.A. forced to work today. It’s wrong…all wrong.
Pictures of the event can be seen here.
