NYE and me

This past weekend I was in San Diego for the annual Rhythmic Arts Festival. Lisa and I drove down on Friday afternoon without much drama or traffic and arrived early enough to get a nap in before the evening, and weekend in general, was to get underway. We stayed at the Kings Inn which is probably the most hideously beautiful place on Hotel Circle Drive. I strive for only the best in Motor Lodge accomodations on Expedia. Whatever. It was a place to call home for the weekend and we got used to the interesting odor of our room after a few minutes.

Since I was getting over a cold and I wasn't feeling very proactive in hunting down potential leads I ended up not dancing much, although those that I did dance with were wonderful and made my weekend that much more enjoyable.

Highlights from the weekend include: shopping on Saturday, Swifty's DJing, afterhours dancing in Claire de Lune, late afternoon naps, Scolari's Office, rockstar parking karma, seeing Lisa drunk on NYE, re-visiting with old friends and new ones alike.

I was slack in the picture taking department, here's a few that made the cut. Regardless of the limited dancing on my part, I had great fun and look forward to spending many more NYE's in San Diego.

My favorite highlights were: the curtains on the ceiling at the King's Inn, rubbing Shannon's back, trying on everything we brought in our suitcases, NYE dinner with some waiter flirtation, Claire de Lune late-night shenanigans with Sha pimping me out to the good leads since she was sick, performing my 20's Charleston stuff to James Brown, my Fedora created by Luke and hot toddie, and last but not least making it to all the early dances just in time for a contest :)
