The Cleveland Browns go 10-6 on the season and fail to make the playoffs.

Shannon is melancholy....but happy that she now gets to sleep in on Sunday mornings.

We better be better next year.

...and I think I've just inspired myself with a potential Halloween costume...

Got a flexible work schedule today? Got a brand new digital camera that you’re dying to play with?

If you answered yes to the questions above then get your butt on over to City Hall as there’s sure to be great views from the top of the tower with the wind blowing away all the nastiness that covers the city on a daily basis.

Once inside take the elevators up to the 22nd floor then transfer to the other set of elevators which will take you to the 27th floor. From there walk up either side of the split staircase where you can then access the Observation Deck which will deliver a 360° view of the city.

If for some odd reason you are not allowed access to the top then find your way to the 4th floor and enjoy the bajillion historical photos of the Los Angeles area that line the hallways. And since you’re there be sure to check out the Rotunda on the 3rd level as well as the John Ferraro Council Chamber and Board of Public Works room.

Remember to bring your government issued ID (CADL or Passport) as they won’t let you in without proper identification.

holiday randomness

Christmas Eve was spent toasting the demise of a drug-haven-dive-bar with friends.

Christmas Day was spent gifting those less fortunate than myself with much needed platelets at a local American Red Cross.

2 years ago my Theatre Company held a successful Food Drive in association with a show we were doing near the holidays.

We're doing it again this year with our current show, info below.

The Elephant Theatre Company and the cast and crew of Anything will be holding a food drive Thursday, Friday and Saturday December 20th - 22nd to help the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. This is a great chance to make a difference in our community and we encourage you to join us in our efforts this holiday to help our less fortunate neighbors.

The food raised will help supply over 1,000 charitable agency sites that provide food for low-income children, families, senior citizens and individuals in need throughout Los Angeles County.

We will have a container in the lobby of the Lillian Theater (1076 N. Lillian Way). Bring your donation to see Anything on any of these nights and get $5.00 off your ticket price. Box office opens at 7:30 Thursday 12/20, Friday 12/21 or Saturday 12/22.

Much needed items include:

- canned protein such as tuna, sardines, stew, soups
- peanut butter and jelly
- canned fruits and vegetables
- fruit juices
- staples such as beans, rice, pasta
- personal care items including lotion, shaving cream, deodorant, toothpaste
- dinners made easy...spaghetti and sauce, refried beans, seasoning and taco shells, etc.
- holiday helpings...canned sweet potates, canned gravy, canned pumpkin...

do you see what i see?

Picture this. 17 people gather at Arda's on 6th Street in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday morning with varying types of cameras; some digital SLR, some traditional film and at least one video. All with the same intent, to explore Downtown via the lens. In certain instances we learned more about our camera and in others, the person behind it.

highwire days

Maybe I moved back into my apartment too soon in light of the recent stairs/landing demolition and reconstruction.

First off, there’s zero chance of me oversleeping anytime in the near future. The pounding at 7:45am shook the entire building so much I thought it was going to collapse. Then upon opening my door to leave for work I could see the ground a floor down. The nice construction guys laid out a plank of wood on the cross beams so I could exit like a proper lady…

brown out in arizona

Sunday was the longest day of my entire life, or at least it seemed that way. Waking up at 5:45am was brutal especially after getting a not so restful night of sleep prior. It felt like I was 7 years old waiting for Christmas morning...the anticipation of going to the game was so intense that I couldn't sleep. Upon picking Patrick up at 7am I learned he had a similar experience. He immediately gifted me with a Kellen Winslow jersey which I proudly wore all day long. He sported a Kamerion Wimbley jersey so we looked like twinsies.

We arrived in Arizona just before 11am, picked up the rental car and made our way to the stadium in lovely Glendale, Arizona. Gordon Biersch was the place to be before the game and it was packed with an even mix of Cardinals and Browns fans.

At the stadium we were regulated to park in the Browns parking lot....I mean Brown parking lot (all the parking lots for this particular stadium are color coded). With the amount of Browns fans at the game, and in that lot, I'm quite shocked that a creative type didn't alter the sign in some way. I should have taken the lead. Next time.

Finally after what seemed like an eternity we found ourselves in the stadium and at our seats. 28 rows up from the field on the 15 yard line. NICE.

The fun part of the story ends there. After kickoff it steadily went downhill with the Browns playing, in my humble opinion, like crap. It really sucks watching your team lose but the pain is magnified infinitely when you travel and see it in person and have to deal with drunken Arizonans whooping it up. UGH. At least we weren't dressed like this guy....I dubbed him Crazy Dog Bone Head Man.

After the game we went back to Gordon Biersch to watch the evening game and kill some time before our 9:30 flight out of town....which was delayed. The odd part though, we left Arizona at 10:15 and arrived in Los Angeles at 10:15. Time stood still momentarily on the longest day of our life...

late nights, early mornings, long days

Don't you just love waking up in the morning not knowing what day it is....trying desperately to think back and get some clue but your mind won't work and all you come up with is "it's 8am and who am I?" Can I go back to sleep or have I overslept? Ah the joys of the aftermath of a long tech week.

Since last Saturday I've spent an extraordinary amount of time at the theatre when not at my usual 9-6 day job. Getting to sleep at 2:30am most nights and waking up at 7:30 most mornings. Thankfully that hell is over and we open our new show officially tonight.

Tomorrow I need to get up bright and early again but this time the pain of 6am will be muted by the fact that I'll be getting on a plane for Arizona to see my beloved Browns in action. I'm so excited I could spit.

Then tomorrow night when I return from AZ I get to pack up a few essential items and move out of my apartment again temporarily. The stairs and landing leading up to my apartment need to be demolished and rebuilt. No doubt this stems from "the fire" although technically speaking it's not fire damage.

Sturdy huh?
